The facilities include a landscaped exhibition cage with a large pool for swimming, a breeding unit, a sleeping shelter, a storeroom and a food-preparation room.

UP PLANTS:

Extensive landscaping was carried out to create a natural surrounding.

The plant list specifies the Latin names of the plants used for this exhibit.


UP FEATURES DEDICATED TO ANIMALS:

A cave and a hill slope were built for climbing; a hanging log is offered for claw exercise; a large pond serves for swimming; natural and artificial tree branches are provided for climbing and roosting.
 

UP FEATURES DEDICATED TO KEEPERS:

Ample working space and independent kitchen and storage spaces are provided. A double-door system is used to ensure the security and safety of keepers.
 

UP FEATURES DEDICATED TO VISITORS:

A well-planted buffer area is provided between the cage and the visitor space in order to avoid visitors' direct contact with animals.
 

UP INTERPRETATION:

An educational poster on jaguars is displayed on site.
 

UP MANAGEMENT:

A double locked night den and a spare cage were designed for shifting animals. A hanging wood log and floating balls are placed for enrichment.
 

UP RESEARCH:


 

UP CONSERVATION:

6 males and 6 females were successfully bred in the Gardens. 1 male and 5 females were sent to China, 2 males and 1 female were sent to Sri Lanka, 2 males were sent to Singapore Zoo.
