Webalizer:

A program documents the number and time of visitation to the ZooLex website.
The following table shows the visitation of the ZooLex website from September 1, 1999 to December 31, 1999.

Time Period Sites Hits
September 1999 29 2597
October 1999 183 6432
November 1999 173 4107
December 1999 199 6050
September 1 to December 31, 1999 584 19186

The number of sites refers to individual persons visiting ZooLex. The number of 584 total visitors probably includes repeat visitors. On the other hand, webalizer only recognizes proxy servers, thus missing visitors using the same proxy. Since the website was not changed during its evaluation, I do not assume many repeat visitors. I therefore estimate that at least 500 different individuals visited the ZooLex website.

Hits are the common count for analyzing visitation of a website. This number is relevant for banner advertising. The number of hits refers to the number of times a user hits a button to see a different page. It relates to the hits of buttons made on a website,  but does not give an exact count of anything referable. To some extent, hits  reflect the time that people spend on a website. Thus, they help to compare interest levels between different websites.

Highest daily usage was on October 7 and 8 with 39 and 51 visitors, following the AZA conference and on November 15 and 16 (Monday and Tuesday) with 37 and 14 visitors respectively, following my reminder emails of November 12 (Friday).

Visitors to ZooLex came from the countries listed below by the end of January 2000. The Webalizer may not have recognized additional countries, as many addresses could not be resolved to country names.
